  I find it painfully ironic when one's solution to dealing with narrow minded judgmental people is to be more narrower minded and judgmental under the justification of how narrow minded and judgmental a portion of the group's population is.
  
  I honestly don't know whether to take offense or just laugh at the silliness of it all. But to set the record straight. Religion... socially speaking, is a tool. It has been used to do great things and it has been used to do horrible things. The same way a hammer can be used to build a home or as a blunt object to end a person's life. And like a hammer, religion's nature is not inherently good or evil but rather its application is subject to the manipulation of the one making use of it.
  
  Honestly it's people that share that sheepish way of thinking and willingly swallow generalized propaganda that blankets an entire group under a single negative perspective
  that are the problem. That goes for everyone both Christians and Non-Christian alike. After all a lie is only as good as the number of idiots you can get to believe it.

  As for the topic itself. I'm a bit more of a realist. Love, to me, is like Christmas. Maybe one day a long long long long time ago it meant something but now its become so mainstreamed and commercialized whatever meaning it had is lost in all the hype and glamor of it all.
  
  To me there is love, the noun. And love, the verb.
  
  Love, the noun. Is what they sell you. Its the objectification of an emotion. Love beings an entity, a living force, something tangible, its given an inflated value and a worth so it can be sold. Its in everything from movies to shows to books and mythology etc, etc. Its very similar to religion in that love has made the transformation from an idea to a tool used to shape society.
  
  We are all spoon fed the ideals. Love conquers all. Love is all you need. True love lasts forever...and so on and so on. Basically making people think, no matter how bad life is its all okay if someone loves me! So people aren't as likely to improve their quality of life by demanding a fair and functional government, or through education and community, or through faith and/or spiritual pursuits. In desperation people seek the path of least resistance. And two desperate people will sooner cling to one another for happiness over the much more difficult barriers preventing them from obtaining the quality of life they want.
  
  And financially, by hyping up the potency of love as a cure all/fix all for life's problems. Its the biggest wild goose hunt ever constructed. They are stuck looking for the fabricated 'romantic' love while buying all their 'hunting gear' and how-to manuals from the same people who sold them the lie in the first place. I mean all that romantic stuff sounds good, giving all of yourself and getting all of another person in return, becoming one and transcending 'normal' emotions and soar into the cosmic, or love is the most powerful thing in the world! Not really... if history has proven anything ignorance is the most powerful force in the world. I mean the ability to not only make people believe a lie but make them refute their own logic and reasoning in the defense of that lie is pretty powerful stuff you can't fight an enemy like that. Its like going to strike them down only to watch them strike themselves before you get a chance and then proclaiming victory for landing the first strike.
  
  I think that's why a good number of 'alternative lifestylers' have abandoned the dog and pony show of 'vanilla' or 'romantic' love. Its sweet and nice yes, but one can not make a diet entirely consisting of cake and candy. I always thought it was funny how the life cycle of most romantic relationships are almost exactly like the life cycle of a sugar rush.
  
  Now that doesn't go to say that love does not exist. Just not in the form of a NOUN. Love isn't something you find, or something that happens. You don't FALL into love... you cal FALL into lust..you can trip over infatuation. But I'm a firm believe in love is something you DO. Love is a verb. Like running or jumping. Its an ability. And like running and jumping, its something that you have to practice at and work at. You have to keep yourself emotionally 'in shape'. Same way you can't sit on your butt all your life and get up and say... "Gee I feel like running a 25 mile marathon!" You can't just sit on your butt waiting for love to 'find you' and then go. "Gee I feel like having a meaningful lasting loving relationship." and expect it to happen. Sure it happens but people have also been cured of blindness, deafness, and cancer via being struck by lightning and people have gone sky diving and have their parachute not function and live to tell about it. Its still a good idea to keep the blind, deaf,and cancerly indoors during a storm and take a parachute with you if you plan to skydive.
  
  The thing I that really gets to me is the biggest lie I think there is about the subject. "There is ALL kinds of love and you have to find the one JUST RIGHT for you."
  
  Bullshit. There is ONE kind of love and if I had to sum it up in a word I'd call it unity. Love flows through two channels and that's family and community. That's it. End of story. Period. And people will bring up... well what about self love! You have to love yourself to love other people! And that has always seemed backwards to me. You HAVE to learn to love other people before you can love yourself. Loving yourself without the perspective of other people is like looking at a painting but standing so close to it that your nose is pressed flat against the canvas. You're too close to yourself to see the entire picture by yourself. By learning to love other people you also learn how THEY see you and its that added perspective that allows you the insight to really know and love who you are.
  
  But if you can't love your family then its like breaking your foot and not allowing it to heal properly. The same way you can end up permanently affecting your ability to walk or run you can end up permanently affecting your ability to love other people. If you can't love the people who you share blood with, the people who gave you life and respect them on that level then you are hobbling yourself. And I know all families aren't created equal but I remember something my mother told me "I don't have to like you to love you." And of course being a kid it broke my little heart and I was all crying thinking "My momma don't like me!" But reflecting on those words as an adult it was very good advice. You HAVE to love family. You don't have to like them. Cuss'em, beat'em, hate their guts, but at the end of the day family is still family.
  
  People are going to do what makes them happy regardless. Sometimes what makes them happy is painful for us. But if its healthy and they aren't in any danger their life is their life. People are fallible, you have to let them have their mistakes. If their pursuit takes them away from you or is unhealthy either for yourself or them personally and they are outside of your influence. You gotta let them do them. Don't hold on to the disappointment or resentment. Wish them the best, let it go and though they are away from your presence don't keep them away from your thoughts and keep a place for them in your heart. If they come back family should always have a place with family. Even if its in the doghouse or under your foot after you knocked them a good one. Love is not always rainbows and roses. Sometimes you gotta cry sometimes you gotta put a foot in someone's ass. And sometimes you just have to remember, loving is not about what you get its about what you give. Love is a gift. And giving a gift with expectations of getting something in return is NOT a gift. Its not always easy but love is an activity, just like running it needs exercise and training, and its the hardest people to love that makes our hearts all the stronger for doing so.
  
  And learning to love your family is the first traditional step to learning to love yourself (I say traditional because family values aren't what they used to be and for some seeking love through one's community actually is a better first step than tackling loving an abusive family. You have to walk before you can run after all. And loving some family members is like a long endurance sprint lol) But the more people you choose to love the more you learn to love yourself and the more you love yourself the more people you are capable of loving. And strong family units start uniting into a connected community. And that is when people are at their strongest and most healthy.
  
  Bottom line. Strong family oriented communities are HARD for corporations to penetrate. Money tends to stay in tight knit communities. In financial trouble? Go to the bank and get a big fat loan with big fat interest attached? Nope. A community will pool money together to help out their own. Need to go shopping? Go to the store? Why do that when there is a small shop down the street or you can borrow the one or two items you need from a neighbor. Go to the club, arcade, mall, etc.? Well when people genuinely like their home environment guess what they stay home to have fun. A lot of profit is lost if people start forming communities.
  
  Not just that. In a community my problem is my neighbors problem. My neighbors problem is my problem. And my neighbor's neighbor problem is their neighbor's problem. So a person who would otherwise feel helpless standing up for themselves against government or corporations would have the foundation of support to actually fight back. United communities are just not as easy to manipulate or control.
  
  Common Solution. Sex. This is why I say love can only exist through family and community. Sex is an act to be done within the unity of family. This is the the sex is sin blah blah blah reverse propaganda. This is about respecting the purpose and origin of design. The purpose of sex is... to procreate! You are creating life... you are creating a family and you HAVE to respect that. Its like buying a tiger as a pet and treating it like a house cat and then acting surprise when it mauls you to death. You HAVE to respect the origin of it's design. Same with sex. The main thing I learned when going from a boy to a man is that Fatherhood doesn't start when you get a woman pregnant but fatherhood begins when you willingly make yourself a guest in the womb of another woman. Because no matter how safe, no matter how 'secure' the methods no method is 100% safe and the 1% chance or even fraction of a fraction of a chance should not be worth risking bringing your child into a life you are either unprepared for or with a woman you can't see as the mother of your child.
  
  Now this doesn't mean don't experiment. Do anal, oral, play any little kinky way you want. But there is more to intimacy than putting part A into part B. Sure, its not the safest but you get an STD or stuck in a situation you are primarily only affecting yourself. Sure people who care for you will be bummed out but ultimate you are the one who has to live with the consequences. But when you do enter a woman make sure you do so with a fatherly consciousness. By separating family from the identity of sex, its become a hedonistic act.
  
  And that is what Love, the NOUN. Is all about. Its hedonism. Love becomes an EXCLUSIVE act rather than an inclusive one. You pick and choose. Limiting who you love. Confused by trying to find the 'one kind of love' that fits you. Its all about how YOU feel and what feels good. People are resigned to believing that to love someone they have to be loved in returned. That to love someone intimately means to do so lustfully. So that 'romantic' love is not measured by the understanding of one person to another but rather the intensity of arousal in one's pants. The mating game has been reduced to just that a GAME. And we aren't the players any more... we're the pieces.
  
  Media is not shaped by the culture of its people but Media is what shapes our culture. It hand picks the values and principles they want us to be subjected to, disguised it, and feed it to us. You hate mainstream rap? Guess what you're not the target. They WANT you to think its stupid they WANT you to be dismissive of mainstream 'culture'. Its a numbers game and its essentials vs non-essentials. Essentials are your for lack of a better term, idiots. They put out all the positive stuff but dress it up to be corny, and preachy. Christianity is a GOOD tool for this. It turns their brains off. While telling all the 'non-essential' people... no don't have sex, wait till you're married and have a house and are ready. And we listen. Then they make mainstream fast paced, instant gratification through sound and images. Just catch enough to catch someones attention but usually made hard to understand. Rock with its screaming and rap with this fast talking and forever evolving slang. It turns off 'non-essentials' as stupid crazy meaningless babble but tells the essentials... sex is fun, drinking and drugs are fun, do as much of it as you can and get money so you can buy more and get more stuff to attract to opposite sex.
  
  So at the end of the day. The more intelligent people are doing the 'right' thing by ,for all means and purposes, putting themselves out of the gene pool or making themselves a very small part of it. While the more easily influenced people are reproduction like rabbits to create more 'livestock' in the population while passing on their values or lack there of to their children who do the same.
  
  I mean you tell someone that something is one of a kind, one in a million, made just for you, is something very few people have, is something that only you and one other person share in all the world, etc. People eat that stuff up. Everyone wants to feel special. To come full circle, religion and love (mostly romantic love and 'spiritual' love as well) have both been twisted and redefined in so many ways, forms, and incarnations simple for the purpose of the manipulation of the masses. Keeping people so confused and misdirected they can't see
  
  Love is a rather simple thing...
  To want for another in the same manner you would want for yourself... BUT outside of the context of yourself.
  
  The first half is the 'easy' part and something most of us have been raised with along the lines of "Do unto others as you wish to be done on to yourself" On paper sounds nice but in practice it has its flaws as a stand alone practice.
  
  Example. I would be most appreciative if a very attracive woman walked up to me grabbed my hand and randomly put it on her chest. Though reversed I don't think she'd be as appreciative if I were to walk up to her grab her hand and randomly put it on my junk.
  
  But the same goes for the internal perspective. A lot of the times people develope 'feelings' because of how a person makes them feel. Whether that feeling be aroused, respected, safe, understood, what have you. And sometimes those feelings can be VERY deceptive and feel and come across as genuine love. But love isn't a feeling, respect, admiration, lust, contentment.. those are things you feel. Love is a verb. It is a something you do. It is NOT an emotion.
  
  Thats what they want you be believe. That its this all powerful emotion capable of 'taking control' of you. Its the same bs they sell you when it comes to drugs/alcohol. "You're not responsible for what you do... blame it on being drunk." "Don't worry about any of the bad things you do... you won't remember it when you wake up." Its the same bs men sell women when they want to be unfaithful. "I'm a man and I have 'man' instincts." They want you to feel liberated by these things so you'll act outside of yourself. Because when you're 'inside' yourself you're surrounded by your values all wrapped up in a little cocoon of your moral fiber safely on a little 'branch' of commmon sense.
